Word of the Day
Number that represents the complete and continuous cycle; that which goes, returns and begins again.
Conceptual definition:
Eight is the number of organized returns. Unlike the tension of seven (əeī), lama expresses the passage to a state of continuity, balance and living repetition. It is associated with natural cycles, especially the phases of the moon.
Iconic value:
- cycle
- return
- continuity
- resolution after tension
Iconic etymology:
Inspired by the lunar cycle in eight phases.
It is perceptually related to ləmū (“moon”), but does not directly designate it.
la- liquid and vibrant opening, marking release of previous tension
-a smooth and stable closing, indicating return and continuity
repetition of the vowel creates a sensation of mirroring and looping (back and forth)
The change of ə → a in relation to ləmū represents the transition from a neutral/floating state to a more corporal and resolved gesture.
