Relational particle of distribution, proportion or apportionment.

Indicates that something is distributed, assigned or calculated for each participant, unit, group or element. It can correspond to Portuguese for, per, for each, per person, per unit, per head, depending on the context.

It differs from uh, which marks direction or recipient; from flah, which marks purpose; and tãla, which marks price, value or exchange.

Associated with the semantic field of distribution and proportional attribution.

While uh points something toward someone and flah indicates the purpose of an action, palih organizes the quantity in relation to the participants or units involved. Its central image is that of an orderly division: each part finds its corresponding.

Thus, palih does not just mean “to” in a general sense, but “to each within a distribution.”
