Word of the Day

Word of the Day

to drink : ʘogə
Definition:

Drawing and swallowing liquid, the act and the process.

Etymology:
    • ʘo-: The bilabial click (ʘ) is the sound of contact lip balm with water or seal your lips in the container. The rounded o reflects the internal space of the mouth filled by the volume of liquid.

    • -g-: The velar occlusion. Unlike the solid, here the g represents the continuous flow of liquid passing through the throat (the "sip").

    • -ə: The final sigh. In ʘogə, the ə carries a greater burden of relief and hydration than in s̆lagə.

  • Sensory Definition: The fluid cycle of capturing, containing, and flowing liquid inward.

Synonyms:

  • = or drink
